The Auditory: Greatest Choirs or Greatest British... →
theauditory:
I am not a fan of Eric Whitacre, and I normally would not give him the time of day in a blog post but I have so many negative feelings about his comments on Gramophone’s list of the 20 Greatest Choirs in the world. Of the twenty choirs, thirteen are British. Not a single American choir made…

We all sing like Americans in the shower, study... →
bitchville:
As you croon your favorite pop tune in the shower, you might notice your dulcet tones were delivered in an American accent - despite where you come from. Researchers might have found the reason why, with a study suggesting that people all over the world automatically use an American accent when they sing pop songs. [Click through to continue reading]

A la recherche.
Hello Tumblr,
I’m looking for this one friend whom I miss. I know she’s busy and all. And in another country. But I am realizing how her not being here during the summer makes me feel lonely! Sometimes I want to call her but the only three numbers I know are 519.
If you see her, let her know I love her and have much to tell her.
Thanks, Tumblr. You’ve always been a good...

From Piano Lessons - Billy Collins
He says the scale is the mother of the chords. I can see her pacing the bedroom floor waiting for her children to come home. They are out at nightclubs shading and lighting all the songs while couples dance slowly or stare at one another across tables. This is the way it must be. After all, just the right chord can bring you to tears but no one listens to the scales, no one listens to their...

Why Westminster will get you down
Freshman: Hi Junior!! I have a really random question for you. Ms. Dogonio is your voice teacher...right?? Do you like her as a teacher? Is she nice?? I'm trying to find a teacher to switch to and I am sooooo lost! haha! I hope that you're having a great summer! :)
Junior: Hi Freshman! Yes, Ms. Dogonio is my voice teacher. She is a wonderful fit for me, but I am not sure if she is taking new students in the fall. She is encouraging, a wonderful teacher, and expects professionalism and 'fierce'-ness from her students. 'Is she nice?' - well, she is a brilliant, inspiring woman, but she does not settle for less than the best work ethic from her students...
Freshman: Thanks for your opinion on her. I'm thinking that she may not be the best fit for me. Most teachers studios are filling up so I really don't know what I'm going to do. Thanks for telling me about her!! :)
Narrator: Ok. So like, what? You don't want to work? You don't want an honest teacher? Go home!
I would give you the shirt off my back

Welcome.
Hi, my name is: Derrick Never in my life have I been: feeling so out of control. The one person who can drive me nuts is: dependent on the day. High school: was a joke. When I’m nervous: I want to run, run, run away. The last song I listened to was: Schlummert ein from Ich habe genug. If I were to get married right now my best man/maid of honor: Eric? My hair is: having a “to flip or not to...

Good morning and welcome to this first post of the new Spring 2010 semester. The beginning of a new semester is a time to pause and take account of what a great place the choir college is. Yes, maybe we haven’t always had edible food. Perhaps the walls are indeed falling down. We may, in fact, all get cancer because of the asbestos in the Library. And we do lack basic functions like running...

loverscarvings:
Great…I missed a rehearsal tonight, because apparently “Ariadne” and “Ariodante” look the same to me when I read schedules. :( I’m an idiot.
This is a great example of American worriedness over small scrupulous mistakes. C’est la vie…
